Construction for Ages

In anticipation of sport events succession our country has turned into a big construction site. Galina BANDURKINA, the owner of Astarta Company, told NBJ about design solutions that are used in the world and local practice with a view to further qualitative operation of facilities.

NBJ: Galina Yuryevna, in 2013 Astarta organized a series of conferences dedicated to the construction and development of urban infrastructure during the preparation for international competition, which will be held in Russia in the nearest future and during the world championship of 2018. Are these events interesting for the public?

G. BANDURKINA: Sure they are if you take into account the fact that the world experience of strategy development for the use of objects after the events and quality design may make its further operation profitable and even become the stimulus for the development of the region, particularly under the auspices of a famous brand.

The provision of sport object load or its modification for multifunctional use, as well the development of an attractive infrastructure and such image objects as business centers, shopping malls, hotels and restaurants will improve trafficobility and cover the additional costs of the facility.

NBJ: What are the major issues when you develop such projects?

G. BANDURKINA: Of course, carefully designed architecture is the source of aesthetics. But the project will not be a perfect one, if you do not provide all the nuances associated with safety, service and reliability.

I consider service as navigation, catering, accessibility and the quality of public areas, keeping of high level trafficobility at an adequate level of security.

NBJ: But the stadium construction is just the tip of an iceberg.

G. BANDURKINA: Exactly. The priority areas of construction activities in conjunction with the construction and reconstruction of stadiums are large-scale road construction, reconstruction of tourism infrastructure and comprehensive development. The construction plans also suggest the emergence of new creative spaces - innovative business-islands and objects of topiary planting.

NBJ: Your Company is well-known for its commitment to innovative approaches. What innovative approaches were used at these facilities?

G. BANDURKINA: First of all, it's versatility, which we implement by installing transformable barriers, the mantling and dismantling of movable constructions. Input groups of increased trafficobility are applied at many facilities. In 2012 we developed innovative products to create customized solutions for surface decoration with time saving up to 30% and the reduction of labor costs and material consumption. This is also applied for ceilings, walls and the finishes of different doorways which is a rather complex job as a rule.

We solve the issue of smoking prohibition in public places using a specially equipped autonomous smoking room. As they say, a smoker is also a man.

NBJ: What do you suggest for new banks that have strict requirements to facility design, security and trafficobility?

G. BANDURKINA: We regularly introduce new designs cooperating with banks for more than ten years and considering their needs. So, we offer specialized banking stations, allowing you to establish quickly a full-fledged bank office anywhere, including in the halls of public buildings with a large attendance. This proposal has already been discussed with retail banks.
